I’m just proofing this to possibly post on the Aud forums. I haven’t decided if I will yet or not.. We’re having some major issues with raiders right now. Not being an officer there, I’m not exactly sure how far I can go with this, but I’ll give it a shot.
I don’t know where I should post this, or if I should post it at all. My opinions about raid, the order of things and an ideal situation may not be the same as everyone elses. I just know that after dealing with my last guild and keeping my mouth shut about certain circumstances, I wasn’t thrilled with the outcome… So I need to say something for my own benefit and if it helps someone else out, I will feel even better. That being said, here is my semi-constructive rant…
I am so frustraited with raid at this point that it will likely take me a few days to calm down. However, I’m fairly good at calmly putting my words into a visable format and communicating instead of yelling, so I’ll try that out.
#1 – Wednesday Night Valithria -
- Blame – All together way too much finger pointing and not enough teamwork. Everyone was so busy pointing the finger at the class/person/dps/heal/tank next to them that they didn’t even bother to stop and figure out what it was they themselves were doing wrong and fix it, or talk to their lead and get further direction. Nothing we ever verbally said, and nothing was typed out into chat. However, the fact that everyone kept doing what they were doing, knowing that it wasn’t working.. well, enough said there..
- Communication Issues – Either no one was talking or everyone was talking at once. Personally, I can’t understand a thing going on in vent when there are 5 people shouting about 3 different mobs coming from 4 different directions. It’s infuriating for me as a healer and I don’t even have to worry about where they might be coming from, I just have to worry about keeping your asses alive.
- ZOMGNUKEWTFPWNBBQ!!! – Seriously? Guys, this is a fight that any healer staying outside of those portals has to manage their mana really, really, REALLY well. If we don’t do that, you die. In order to do that, ya’ll have to follow a simple rule.. (supressors and mages aside) .. If a tank does’t have good threat on it, DON’T NUKE IT! You all have threat meters. If you nuke it before the tank has threat on it. you’re going to take damage because it WILL hit you. Which means that a healer has to heal you and down goes our mana pool. Now.. Imagine 5-7 of you doing this with two healers focusing mainly on tanks and only one raid healer. .. Yeh. it ain’t pretty to see 5-7 health bars take 5-7k worth of damage when you’ve also got a tank or 3 to take care of and you have to worry about concerving your mana because you aren’t the one going in and out of the portals.
#2 – Going into the general points now -
- Healing – Work with us now. Ya’ll keep the mobs off of us, which includes that rule about dps not pulling threat off the tanks because we all know where that mob is going to go after the dps drops agro, don’t we? Yep, right onto that healer that just threw you that 12k crit heal to get you back to full health. This also means that the tanks HAVE to communicate with the rest of the raid about resisted taunts. It will warn the dps to back the hell off until you can cement your agro.
- Know the other classes around you. It pays to know stuff like “Bear tanks only have two ranged taunts. Faerie Fire and Growl.” “Warriors don’t like PW:Shield more often than not because they gain rage from the damage they take.” “A hunter’s Feign Death can be resisted.” Knowing small things like that can save a lot of aggrivation and questions like “WTF just happened there?” or “Why didn’t he hold agro?” If you want to work like a team, you have to know your team. Otherwise your just a group of people that is tossed into a salad bowl, mixed up and eaten for lunch by the new boss that just spawned over there.
- If you want to know the answer to the question relative to the situation, just ask. However, remember there is a time and place for everything and proper channels to go through. I don’t blurt out into the middle of Vent, ‘Hey, why don’t we try this?!’ No, I talk to Coch in whispers, because more than likely he has a better idea of what is going on with the raid leads and will either ask at the appropriate time, or pass my idea/thought onto everyone else. And instead of it being a finger pointing extravaganza because the heals didn’t keep a tank alive, or the tanks didn’t grab agro, or the dps shot their wad too quickly and pulled threat… It becames a constructive situation giving our leads the chance to communicate information to all of us instead of trying to talk over us.
If need be this can be deleted and I won’t feel hurt. I realize that a lot of people don’t share my viewpoint or my opinion of the situation and this may cause some arguement. For that I apologize. It’s not my intention to cause anykind of issue. However, considering that no one seems to be publicly discussing these problems, something needs to be said before we all go nuts.

o.. I have a few free months of WoW from my brother and his friend. I think. Erik said he and Marshall were going to give WoW another month and see what happened. But I think they are going to leave for the new Star Wars MMO. But anyway… Now I need a break from WoW :( So I played play STO and SC2 for a little while. My STO 5-day trial is done and I miss it already. :( I really enjoy the “geek out” factor I get from it. I never really had that playing WoW. Of course, I hadn’t been a WoW fan since I was a toddler. Nope, that was Star Trek. I dunno what to do! Maybe it is because STO is new and shiny. I’ll give it a few days and we’ll see if I still want it.. Not that I have the money to buy it right now..
t’s the Friday of the weekend that Gaz’s LARP game doesn’t run. So it’s DnD time. I usually get into it after it gets going, but usually before had I’m really not feeling up to it. I dunno why. I have fun.. I guess I just have other things on my mind in dire need of attention.. Like cleaning my horribly dirty house. *sigh* I get one room clean and another one gets trashed. At least Tony is getting his room clean today and he’s got clean school clothes for the next week. And I can do a ton of laundry on Monday and Tuesday again, supposing it doesn’t raid.. Which it very well might. It’s looking like it wants to right now.
